2011 Training Year in Review

A few days late, but here is the 2011 Year in Review. Not bad, but leads to great goals in 2012!

Highlight: Comrades 56-mi “Ultimate Human Race” Marathon (Longest Marathon, first 50+Mile Ultra). Nothing beats Comrades for an Endurance race, and it’s one of the most significant achievements for any runner. However, 2012 is the year of the “Down” run, even harder on the legs – and my goal for a back-to-back year.

Additionally, I ran my first marathon as a pacer. This is far more difficult than most people realize. It was enjoyable, and a helluva an experience. Like everything in life, there are good pacers, and bad pacers. I really appreciate the good ones now!

Training:

  • 402.2 hours
  • 502802 Cals
  • Swim:  35334.89 yds
  • Bike: 260.4 mi (not including all the time on the stationary bike!)
  • Run:  876.03 mi
  • Race: 271.81 mi
  • 3 Marathons
  • 2 Duathlons
  • 2 5k’s
  • 2 Triathlons (1 1/2 Iron)
  • 3 Ultramarathons
  • 1 1/2 Marathon

Let’s see what 2012 brings!
