Garmin 910xt Review: Courses and Firmware Update

As one of the first users of Garmin‘s new 910xt, I’ll be posting some “real world” information on using Garmin‘s newest flagship product. A more in-depth review and more photos can by found at DC Rainmaker’s blog and he is quite thorough. So I’m not going to reinvent the wheel, here, but rather report on my experiences with this latest product. Previous reviews of the watch during training runs, swim (open waterpool), 1/2 Ironman, and bike can be found earlier in the blog at the previous links.

Exploring the ruins of Pompei Italy

I got a chance to walk through the ruins Pompei with the Garmin 910xt in tow. Despite having traveled from San Francisco, CA to Pompei, Italy, the Garmin picked up satellites very quickly, and, as you can see below, happily mapped our walk through ruins:

 

More (and photos!) to follow. Happily the 910xt did a much better job than the 310xt on finding its place in the universe, despite my attempts to confuse it by flying half way around the world.

Garmin 910xt Review: Test Bike Ride Multi-Sport

Here is some more information from my test use of the new Garmin 910xt. Today, I had a chance to try the multisport function briefly, and take it for a quick ride on my Giant TCR.

Garmin’s new 910xt is so new that its compatibility with third party vendors has suffered a bit as they struggle to catch up with the latest advancements. But that’s not the only issues I’ve found with the device, although everything is relatively minor.

Today I had my first chance to use the Garmin 910xt on my first run since I over-stressed my back. This is only the first test run (a run test?) so your results may vary.
