Question about altitude constrain.

Postby Claudiney Oliveira » June 19th, 2010, 8:16 pm

Hello everyone!

I`ve looked for this information in a lot of manuals but I haven`t had a good explanation.
Lets supose that we are descending in manage and the controller clear us to fly towards the outer marker, which one you have to pass at 1900` (Just an example). when you direct to this position, an altitude constrain, which one had not showed in the FMGS and even published in the approach chart, appear. E.g.: 2077`(Again, just an example). Why this happen? And, where can I find this information?
Thanks a lot.

Don't worry, you're not alone on this one.

Flying the RIIVR visual in to LAX, and cleared for the approach, for some reason it gives an odd altitude contrstraint of some something like 4,077' when in fact the OM is like 2000'.

So ya, I've noticed that too, and asked a bunch of other people - with two responses: "HUH?"

And

"Ya, I've noticed that, too..."

Nobody seems to know. I'll continue to ask and maybe some sharp Instructor somewhere will know: I know at least 2 check airman who have no idea either. It's definitely not in the manuals that I've seen.
