The advent of the ipad and other mobile devices has begun a revolution in the way that people read online. Although WordPress has numerous plugins and other ways of reformatting a blog making reading better by a variety of devices, none of them are ideal nor did they work well with the old theme for captainchas.com. The original theme was a great start, but it has outlived its usefulness as the site has grown and the numbers of tablets and smartphones exploded.
Consequently, it was time for an upgrade. Although things may appear somewhat different, some of the best parts of the previous theme were kept (after much work with style.css and other parts of the free theme) to keep some continuity from one theme to another.
Those using ipads, iphones, android tablets, and even netbooks and older, less high-end resolution reading devices should see an immediate improvement in the readability and formatting of captainchas.com. The current theme, under the category of “responsive” themes, will ensure that no matter how you choose to visit, you should now get the same great experience and ease of browsing.
Along with the new theme we changed the menu formatting a bit also. Since we hate when the menu (on smaller screens) formats to two lines, we’ve updated the hierarchy, added a few new items, and simplified the entire thing.
We hope you like the changes. Of course, there is still some tweaking to be done, and some minor updates and changes that will be occurring over the next several weeks. Check in often to see if you can catch the latest changes.
